Former Indian spinner Murali Kartik was known for his tweakers but ever since he has taken up a new role in the commentary box, he has learned to bowl bouncers. Murali Kartik who was doing commentary for the host’s broadcasters bowled one to Prithvi Shaw (who was on the mic) when he asked him that who is better between Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly? Kartik said that the question is like asking a child who is a better parent – father or mother.
However, Shaw was equal to the task and decided to duck into the short ball. The young prodigy batsman firstly said that he didn’t hear the question, to which fellow commentator Simon Doull laughed. Doull said that the youngster is trying to leave the question just like a good length delivery on the fourth-fifth stump line. “I can’t hear you. There seems to be some problem with the connection,” Shaw replied.

In the post match press conference, Prithvi Shaw credited Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting for the franchise’s fine showing in IPL 2019. Delhi have had a torrid time in the previous editions of the tournament as they haven’t finished higher than the 6th position barring the 2012 season when they qualified for the playoffs. The six wicket win over Rajasthan Royals on Monday however ensured that they climbed to the top of the table with 7 wins from 11 matches having played one match more than second placed Chennai Super Kings.
“With seniors like Sourav sir, Ricky sir, Kaif sir around, the body language changes. There are few youngsters like me, Sandeep (Lamichhane), Manjot (Kalra) but we are never made to feel that we were inexperienced, instead we are always kept in the same group with the seniors, on and off the field,” said Shaw at the post-match press conference. “Sourav sir even chill with us when we don’t have practice. We go for dinners together. So there is a very strong bonding,” Shaw added.
