Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who has already made a name for himself with his chirping behind the wickets, was once again caught on the stump mic going about his business on Day 3 of the third test match between India and Australia at the MCG. It was Australian skipper Tim Paine who was on the receiving end end this around. It was Paine who had started the battle of words when he had a go at the youngster when he came out to bat late during Day 3 of the test match.
Paine had reminded the 21 year old that he had been dropped from the ODI squad for the 3 match ODI series and had suggested him to come and play for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. The Australian skipper had also invited him to babysit his kids when he and his wife would not be around.
“I tell you what, big MS (Dhoni) is back in the One-Day squad, we might get (Pant) down to the Hurricanes, this bloke. We need a batter. Fancy that, surely, extend your little Aussie holiday, Beautiful town Hobart too. Get you a nice apartment on the waterfront. Have you over for dinner you Babysit? I’ll take the wife to the movies one night and you’ll look after the kids?” Paine was heard saying on the stump mic on Day 3.
Pant decided to give Paine a taste of his own medicine when the latter was batting during the 40th over of the Australian second innings, referring to him as a “temporary captain”. He also called the Australian skipper as a “special guest” at the crease and added that the latter was someone who only knew how to talk. Australia were already 5 wickets down chasing a total of 399 and Pant felt it was the perfect time to try and get into Paine’s ears.
“We’ve got a special guest today…..have you heard of a temporary captain ever? You don’t need anything to get him out boys. He loves to talk, that’s the only thing he can do, only talking talking,” Pant was heard as saying on the stump mic.
