Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been under the limelight throughout the series with his chirping behind the wickets trying to get under the skin of the Australian batsemen. The 21 year old decided to have a go at Nathan Lyon towards the close of play on Day 4 when him and Pat Cummins were battling hard in the middle trying to take the game to the last day of the test match.
Lyon on batting well in the middle making things really difficult for the Indian bowlers. Pant decided to try and break the concentration of the off spinner asking him to throw his wicket away so that the latter did not have to come out to bat on the next day. The incident occurred in the 80th over of the Australian innings when Ravindra Jadeja was bowling.
“Come on Gary. You don’t want to come tomorrow for nothing,” Pant was heard as saying on the stump mic. The 31 year old in response chuckled and said, “I can’t even understand what you’re saying mate.” “I like you too Rishabh,” he turned back and added.
Pant was earlier caught on the stump mic having a go at Australian skipper Tim Paine referring to him as a “temporary captain” and a “special guest” at the crease. Team India, in the meanwhile, are on the verge of a historic win at the MCG with the hosts still requiring 141 runs to win the match with only two wicket in hand.
