Rohit Sharma did the unthinkable in the ongoing IPL 2019 clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. The Mumbai Indians skipper put his football skills on display to save himself from getting stumped.
It all happened on the penultimate ball of the 10th over when Rohit premeditatively charged down the track off the bowling of Krishnappa Gowtham. Gowtham spotted him coming down the track and bowled it down the leg-side so as to get him stumped, but the former was up to his task as he extended his leg to avert the danger. It was more of football than cricket as Rohit managed to kick the ball away onto the leg-side with his front leg.
It would have been a wide had he let that go and even Sanju Samson behind the stumps could have found it tough to grab. The run however could not be completed going by the rules of cricket as he had deliberately padded the ball away without offering any shot.

Meanwhile, Rohit has been dismissed after scoring 47 off just 32 balls. He got his team off to a good start with Quinton De Kock after the Royals won the toss and opted to field. Rohit and De Kock stitched a partnership of 96 runs for the opening wicket.
