The on field banter between players has been taken to an entire new level in the ongoing test series between India and Australia. Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has already attracted a lot of attention with his banter behind the stumps when he was caught on the stump mic trying to get under the skin of the Australian batsmen when they were batting. It was Australian skipper Tim Paine’s turn to return the favour when the latter came out to bat towards the close of play on Day 3 at the MCG.
The incident took place in the penultimate over of the day’s play when Nathan Lyon was bowling. Paine tried to remind Pant that with he had been dropped from the ODI team and won’t get a chance to play with MS Dhoni back in the team. Paine continued to distract the Indian wicketkeeper batsman, suggesting him to come and join the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
“Tell you what big MS is back in the one day squad. Should get this bloke down to Hurricanes.. They need a batter,” Paine was heard saying in the stump mic.
“Fancy that extend you Aussie holiday, beautiful town Hobart too… get him a water front apartment. Have him over for dinner. Do you babysit? I can take my wife to the movies while you watch the kids,” Paine continued.
Pant chose not to respond to Paine but was visibly distracted by the banter as he went for the big heave on the last ball of the over which fortunately for him fell well short of the long on fielder.
