WATCH: Virat Kohli imitates Jasprit Bumrah’s action ahead of semi-final clash against New Zealand

Team India have already taken one step closer to the finals of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with an outstanding display of bowling to restrict New Zealand to 211/5 in 46.1 overs in the semifinals before rain stopped play in Manchester on Tuesday. Winning the toss and batting first, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was dismissed for a gritty 67 while Ross Taylor was batting on an identical score before rain came in to halt proceedings in the middle. Indian new ball bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the opening powerplay to put Virat Kohli and Co. ahead in the game.

The Men in Blue, who progressed to the semifinals as table-toppers, had a relaxed training session leading to the semifinal match. Not long before the delay in proceedings, a video of Virat Kohli from before the commencement of the match emerged in which he can be seen bowling with Jasprit Bumrah’s action and also imitating his celebration after picking up a wicket. Bumrah’s unique action has seen fans coming up with all sorts of theories ever since he made his debut and quite a few aspiring fast bowlers have tried to copy him, videos of which have gone viral on social media.

Jasprit Bumrah has been a revelation for India ever since he made his international debut way back in 2016. The speedster hasn’t looked back since then and groomed his skills with each passing day to become a vital cog for the Indian cricket team across all formats of the game. He has gone from strength to strength and is currently ICC’s top-ranked ODI bowler. The speedster has been the most economical bowler for the Men in Blue in the ongoing World Cup and hasn’t given the batsmen much to work with, hitting the right channels on a consistent basis.

Kohli has had an excellent outing in the World Cup not just as captain but he has also done reasonably as a batsman. Kohli had racked up 442 runs at an average of 63.14 in the group stages with a top score of 82 against Australia. Kohli also shares a great rapport with his teammates and is often seen having fun with them. The Indian skipper was spotted during training imitating Bumrah’s bowling action ahead of the much anticipated semifinal. The video soon went viral on social media, and fans have come up with funny replies as Kohli turned into Bumrah just before the vital encounter.
