Team India currently have the upper hand in the ongoing third test match between India and Australia at the MCG. The hosts currently trail India by more than 300 runs in their first innings with more than half their side already back in the pavilion. Jasprit Bumrah in the meanwhile has been on a roll with an excellent spell of fast bowling before and after lunch on Day 3 of what has been a real heck of a test match.
Bumrah had been targeting the stumps of the Australian batsmen for quite some time and he finally managed to get it though the gate of Travis Head with the left hander trying to play an ambitious whip on the leg side of a delivery fired in full aiming the stumps. Head was beaten by the sheer pace of the delivery which kissed the outside edge and clattered into his middle stump.
It was Bumrah’s third scalp of the day and he is certainly enjoying his time in the middle. Bumrah had earlier picked up the wicket of Australian opener Marcus Harris with a very good short delivery which the left hander ended top edging one to Ishant Sharma to fine leg. He also managed to deceive Shaun Marsh with a slower delivery aimed at the stumps to rap him on the pads on the last ball before lunch.
Head’s wicket could only mean deeper trouble for the Aussies who still need more than 100 runs to avoid a follow on in the ongoing test match. Skipper Virat Kohli, who usually remains quite animated on the field, was pumped up and rightly so, given the position India are in the test match at the moment.
