Team India are currently in the driver’s seat in the ongoing third test match between India and Australia at the MCG. The Aussies, set with a target of 399 to achieve in the fourth innings of the test match have already lost half their side in what was always going to be an improbable run chase given the wear and tear of the pitch on Day 4 and 5 of the test match. The hosts got off to a horrid start, losing opener Aaron Finch in only the second over of the innings before Jadeja got Marcus Harris going hard at the drive only to find the inside edge straight into the hands of short leg.
It was however Mohammad Shami who came out with the perfect delivery to get rid of Usman Khawaja who was batting on 33 and was looking well set to play the long innings for Australia. It was an absolute peach of a delivery from Shami which pitched just short of good length from around the wicket and held its line to thud into Khawaja’s pads beating his defense.
The umpire was quick to raise his finger but Khawaja went for the DRS knowing very well what an important wicket it could be to Australia. Replays however showed that the ball was going on to hit the stumps which caused the umpire to stay with his original decision. Khawaja’s review went in vain and he had to make the long walk back to the pavilion.
Meanwhile, Shami struck once again continuing his love affair with the second innings after his six-fer in Perth in the second test. Skipper Virat Kohli once again was pumped up as usual and his celebration certainly showed how important the wicket of Khawaja was for Team India.
