Reds’ star defender Dejan Lovren has complete confidence in Liverpool and has claimed that his team can go through the whole Premier League campaign unbeaten.
Liverpool is currently enjoying a great spell under manager Jurgen Klopp this season as they sit at the summit of the Premier League table. Notching up 45 points from just 17 games with 14 wins, three draws, and zero losses, Liverpool are one point ahead of title favorites, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
However, along with Liverpool’s attackers just starting to find their form and rhythm off late, one aspect that needs light shed upon it is the rearguard because the Merseyside club has conceded just seven goals keeping 10 clean sheets in the process.
One key member in the Liverpool back line who should play a key role in the crucial festive period is Dejan Lovren. The Croatian is the only senior center-back available alongside Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of Liverpool’s defense after Joe Gomez and Joel Matip picked up injuries.
But Lovren, who put in an impressive display against Manchester United in a 3-1 win at Anfield is now confident that Liverpool can go unbeaten throughout the season.
While speaking to BBC Sports the 29 year old defender explained that it will be a challenge to go unbeaten in the season but Arsenal did the ‘Invincibles’ feat back in 2004 so Liverpool can as well, “Hopefully we can be unbeaten until the end of the season, That is why we came to Liverpool. Arsenal did it before so why not? Of course, it will be a challenge but this is what we want, We know we can do it.”
Lovren needs to let his football do more of the talking because he is known to run his mouth quite a lot. Being confident is a great trait but Liverpool must look to each and every game as a hurdle and not look too far ahead also.
