Weighing in: Mark Clattenburg points out major error from last nights game

Arsenal were unlucky in their 2-2 draw with Manchester United as Anthony Martial’s goal should have been disallowed, as per the former Premier League referee

The Gunners were twice pegged back by the Red Devils on a pulsating night of Premier League football at Old Trafford. Arsenal took the lead via Shkodran Mustafi before Martial equalised after Ander Herrera kept Marcos Rojo’s saved free-kick alive. The visitors then regained the lead thanks to a Rojo own-goal, only for Jesse Lingard to pop up with a goal barely seconds later and hand Jose Mourinho’s men a crucial point.

Many feel it was a fair result, but some have taken to social media to indicate that Martial’s goal should have been disallowed. Replays showed that Herrera’s head was offside when he went towards the ball and crossed for Martial. And Clattenburg feels that Scott Ledger, the assistant referee for the game, committed an error not noticing it. “Manchester United’s equaliser should have been disallowed for offside,” Clattenburg told the Daily Mail.
