From first, to second to third to fifth to second to fourth again. The London giants Arsenal’s season has been nothing short of a roller coaster. With an ever looming inconsistency and low morale among the players, nothing is going Wenger’s way right now. After two back to back defeats, the Gunners are on the verge of falling below the top 4. The top guns Sanchez and Ozil are failing to fire, along with major injuries. With a third of the season remaining, it is high time Arsenal get back to winning ways. This season is probably Wenger’s last chance at saving his job at the Emirates.

The fact of the matter is that despite playing good football, Arsenal always falters in the second half of the season. Therefore, they fail to end the season on a high they began with. Wenger said,

“You have Tottenham as well and everyone is behind their team and we have to do the same. Even if we have had two disappointing results I want the fans to be behind the team. Focus on what we do well.”

Well, it is pretty significant when an Arsenal manager compares his fans to that of Tottenham. The two clubs are fierce rivals and Tottenham has never finished above Arsenal in the Premier League. Though, Wenger’s plight could be understandable. A team like Tottenham thrives under support, often coming from behind. Therefore, the Frenchman desires the same from his home crowd as well.

“The way we respond to a disappointing result last Saturday is vital. If it is over for us then it is over for everyone else because we are in a pack.”

Arsenal’s next fixtures include Hull City, Liverpool, Leicester and so on. The team needs to go on a winning run to maintain a top 4 position and try to close down the gap on Chelsea.
