Curiosity breaks out the moment we come to know of a transfer already taken place, about who were there eager and willing to pay for that player that time along with the cryptic reason of him choosing the particular team over the others. Well, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger just released the fact that he wanted French midfielder N’Golo Kante for him, who is presently with Chelsea. And he really had made earnest efforts for that.
Wenger discloses he had asked the footballer for that when the latter was in with Leicester City last summer. He, however doesn’t intend to open out anything more, not even the amount he had offered to the player. He reveals, “Have I looked to sign Kanté? Yes. When he was in France and when he was at Leicester,”
When questioned for the underlying reason for him declining the offer, the club manager argues, “I cannot explain everything but it is quite obvious when you look at where he has gone. Was it the money? I do not want to talk about that. Transfers are transfers – you cannot explain absolutely everything”.
Furthermore, the French manager has also indicated that he had an eye on Kylian Mbappé too, the 18-year old young Monaco striker. Regarding him, he says, “It was at stake last season but he decided to stay where he was, he has similarities to Thierry Henry. First of all, he’s from the Caribbean, as well, and he has a huge talent. He plays for Monaco and Thierry Henry played for Monaco.”

Now, a glance over 3-1 victory of Chelsea over Arsenal this Saturday implies nasty disappointment for Arsenal fans, and of course, Wenger. But still, Arsenal find themselves at fourth in the League table, 12 points behind the leading Chelsea.
