Chelsea offered Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley in a Declan Rice swap while West Ham has turned down the offer.
Chelsea has offered a two-player swap for Declan Rice including Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley in a deal. On the other hand, West Ham is least interested in parting ways with the midfielder. The Hammers have rejected the bid and have asked for an £80million transfer fee.
West Ham has already mentioned that Declan Rise is not available for sale this summer and the club will dismiss ant offer received for him. According to The Times, the club has set a record price of £80million for the central Midfielder amid links with Chelsea. Though David Moyes’s side is keen to keep the stalwart yet any offer that would meet the standards would be accepted.
Chelsea is ready for a squad overhaul covering all major areas for the season ahead. The club has covered half of the reinforcement part and has already spent £90million. The West London club has secured the signing of two highly-rated players namely Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
They are in the midway of securing the services of £90million rated Kai Havertz and the talks are ongoing regarding negotiations of the transfer fee. But this isn’t a wrap for Chelsea transfers as there are three more positions that require overhaul as per Frank Lampard.
Lampard wants Rice to play at the center-back
The 42-year old manager is going to make some defensive reinforcements too. With that in mind, Lampard is also looking out regularly for a goalkeeper, a left-back, and a center-back. Rice is the top target for the latter position and believes that the leadership qualities can blend well with his former club.
Rice is one of Chelsea’s academy products and has been with the Blues till age 14. There are plenty of admirers who want to see him playing at the Stamford bridge again.
Frank Lampard is hugely fond of the 21-year-old and wants to play him at the center-back. Thus fixing the long bugs at the back. Though Rice has spent most of his career playing at the central Midfield.
Rice made his debut in 2017 for West Ham and has established himself as one of the club’s top players. He has played every single minute of the Premier League and has been a core part of David Moyes’ midfield.
Moyes wants to build a team around Rice after coming out safe of relegation zone just five points clear and finishing in 16th position of 2019-2020 campaign.
However, due to the global pandemic, not all football clubs have a sufficient amount of funds to bring in new summer signing. If that’s the case, Hammers would have to sell the England international if the right offer arrives.
Chelsea is edging closer to sign £90million Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. Ben Chilwell is another top transfer target to occupy left-back at Stamford Bridge. This would leave nothing with Chelsea in their transfer kitty.
Hence, Chelsea would have to scupper the transfer bid for £80million rated Declan Rice. He has seven caps for West Ham and could work well under Lampard. But it is on Lampard who has to decide which player can add firepower to the squad.
