West Ham transfer news: The Hammers are trying to sign Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Paquetá before the summer transfer window closes.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Paqueta has agreed on personal terms with West Ham. However, the Premier League side have not yet reached an agreement with Lyon.
Romano describes talks last night as ‘positive’ and also reports a new round of talks is scheduled for today as West Ham looks to acquire the Brazilian’s services.
West Ham have been very active in the transfer market this summer. They have so far made seven signings and are looking to add more depth to the squad.
West Ham transfer news: Hammers’ seven signings so far this summer

West Ham have signed Alphonse Areola on a permanent transfer from PSG. The French goalkeeper had spent the previous at West Ham, on loan from PSG. He has signed a five-year contract with the club, with the option to extend it by another 12 months.
West Ham have also reinforced their defensive department with the addition of three players. They have signed centre-back Thilo Kehrer from PSG, Emerson from Chelsea, Nayef Aguerd from Rennes.
Kehrer has joined the club on a four-year contract with the option to extend it by another two years. Emerson has signed for the club on a four-year contract, with the option to extend it by another 12 months. Aguerd, meanwhile, has signed a five-year contract.
They have also signed striker Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, midfielder Flynn Downes from Swansea, and winger Maxwel Cornet from Burnley – all on a five-year contract with the option for a further year.
Meanwhile, West Ham have had a difficult start to the Premier League 22/23 campaign. They have not yet won any points this season despite featuring in three games.
West Ham faced defending Premier League champions Man City in their season opener and succumbed to a 2-0 defeat. The East London outfit took on newly-promoted Nottingham Forest in the second game and conceded a 1-0 defeat.
West Ham hosted Brighton & Hove Albion in their third game, this time also falling to a defeat. The Seagulls inflicted a 2-0 defeat on West Ham, making three defeats in a row for David Moyes’ side.
West Ham, though, have qualified for the group stages of the Europa Conference League, defeating Danish side Viborg FF 6-1 on aggregate in the playoffs.
