“Who Wouldn’t Want to Play for Barcelona,” Says Ruben Neves

Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves has reportedly been in talks with La Liga giants Barcelona for a move in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona are all set to lose their club captain Sergio Busquets at the end of this season. Hence they are looking at multiple options to replace the veteran midfielder.

Ruben Neves is currently a leading candidate for that role. And recently when asked about a possible transfer to Barcelona, Neves made his stance clear.

“Who wouldn’t want to try Barcelona? I think it’s a common question for all players,” said Ruben Neves.

He further added, “It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. Of course, it’s always a privilege for me to be associated with clubs of this calibre.”

Now Barcelona reportedly tried to sign the midfielder in the last summer transfer window itself. However, the Wolves’ asking price was too much for the Catalans.

According to reports, The Catalan Giants will once try to rope in the defensive midfielder the next summer. Barcelona president Joan Laporta has a very good relationship with Neves agent Jorge Mendes. It has been understood that this can be a key factor in his signing.

Meanwhile, English Premier League club Arsenal also tried to get the services of Ruben Neves. But similar to Barcelona, they were reluctant to pay the amount Wolves wanted. But Arteta’s team will again look to sign the midfielder in the upcoming summer.

Neves is currently playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite the captain doing his bit, the Wolves are struggling at the eighteenth position in the table. They are looking like favourites for getting relegated which is another reason Neves will surely move out of the club the next summer.
