WI VS IND: Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has reserved the highest respect for young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for his performance in the second T20I.
The left-arm fast bowler who has plenty of bowling variations under his sleeve has once again managed to trick or deceive the West Indies batters by bowling terrific balls.
The 23-year-old produced a bowling masterclass in the fag end of the overs. His bowling spell literally helped India get back into game. In fact, India had a chance to pull off a spectacular win.
Nevertheless, West Indies were pretty good in clutch moments and went on to win the second T20I by 5 wickets. The Caribbeans eventually got off the mark against India in the ongoing home series.
Earlier, the Men in Blue whitewashed the Men in Maroon in the ODI series. Shikhaar Dhawan and Co won the ODI series by 3-0. After that, Rohit Sharma and Co drew first blood in the series.
However, Nicholas Pooran and Co ensured to get their basics right this time in the second T20I. West Indies won the game and levelled the series.
WI VS IND: Parthiv Patel showers praise on Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh registered 1/26 in four overs. During the 17th over of the second innings, the 23-year-old was brought into the attack when the scoreboard reads 27 runs needed off the final 3 overs.
He bowled the 17th and 19th over where he conceded only 10 runs in total. Notably, he gave his team a fighting chance to win the game as West Indies required 10 off the last over.
During his bowling spell in the fag end of the overs, he got rid of Rovman Powell in pressure situation. Parthiv Patel added that Arshdeep does make the captain’s job easier while speaking to Cricbuzz.
“You could sense the confidence in him because he has been bowling those difficult overs for Punjab Kings, which is what he has been doing.
“When Rohit entered the room, he did not engage Arshdeep in conversation, which indicated that he knew what he was going to do. That demonstrates his maturity and how much he has picked up while bowling for Punjab,” Parthiv Patel added.
The third T20I between West Indies and India will go all guns blazing on August 2, Tuesday. The game will kick off at 9:30 PM IST at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.
