Sri Lanka pitches favours the spinners

Sri Lanka has defeated Bangladesh in February earlier this year and they have the tracks that favour the spinners. The conditions are completely beneficial to the regular spinners.

“Sri Lanka have quality spinners but we are ready for the challenge. If you see the series in Bangladesh when we won, it was played on similar conditions and we tackled their spinners well. Most of the guys who played in that series are here and we know what to expect,” Blackwood says.

After the poor test series against team India Sri Lanka back their senior players for the upcoming test series. Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, and Dinesh Chandimal are expected to play test series against West Indies.

“(Karunaratne’s) last knock in Test cricket was a double hundred. Angelo is one of the great players in the game. Suranga Lakmal is so crucial for us with the new ball and he is a wonderful player. It’s great to have them back and their experience is going to be vital.” Micky Arthur said.

Even the under-19 Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka after the great T20 World Cup 2021 will make his test debut against West Indies. The coach Micky Arthur will be part of the team for one last time and after the test series, he will leave his role of head coach.

Although he was looking to extend his tenure Sri Lanka cricket board wants to appoint their former cricketer Mahela Jayawardene as a head coach for the team. “I am happy I am leaving the team in a far better place than I found it. I see our players getting better and exciting times are ahead,” Arthur said. The upcoming series will start from 21 November with the 1st test match and the 2nd test match from 29 November.
