Chelsea forward Willian confirmed the transfer of his fellow team-mate Oscar to Chinese Super League.
In an interview with ESPN, Willian said Oscar has said goodbye to Chelsea players and is ready for a move to China. As per reports, Oscar will be earning £400,000-a-week in China, making hime one of the best-paid footballers in the world.
“[Oscar] has already said goodbye. He’s a good friend and a great player,” Willian told ESPN Brasil. During Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Oscar was not involved.
The 25 year Brazilian will become Chelsea’s record sale, eclipsing the £50m received from Paris Saint-Germain for David Luiz in the summer of 2014.
“A player’s career can be quick, so when such an opportunity comes you think about your family. You want to be prepared for when you have to stop playing,” said Willian.
Oscar will join former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas in China, as well as fellow Brazilians Hulk and Elkeson. In addition, he will also become one of the best-paid footballers in the world when he joins Chinese Super League.
During a press conference on Friday, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte refused to confirm any deal regarding Oscar. But Conte said he was proud to have the player in his squad.
“Oscar is a really good player. For me, I was very proud to have him in my squad and have him as my player. I’m proud of his attitude, his commitment and his behaviour, which have been fantastic. ”
“I have great respect for every decision made by a single player. If you ask me ‘Are you sorry?’ then yes, I am sorry. I am sorry because he’s leaving as a really good player and a really good man. I must be honest about this. But, also, I understand him,” said Conte.
