Manchester United could be without summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is still not fit to play in the game against the club’s fierce rivals Liverpool. An injury that he had picked up earlier was the reason why Jose Mourinho had lost sleep over his attacker’s current form, though the player had uplifted team spirits after disclosing back then that he had desires to participate in Armenia’s World Cup qualifier against Denmark. The 27 year old player had an accident with Marek Sukhy at that point and was substituted during the half time break, which rose questions about the injury status of the Armenian international. Nevertheless, it was believed to be a slight issue after the Armenian international who had expressed his desires to feature in their first World Cup qualifier game back then.
However, the problem did not fade away at that point and it grew slowly, which might now force him to miss this crucial game against the Reds.
The 27 year old player’s possible participation will be taken as an enormous uplift for the Red Devils once again as Manchester United face Liverpool on Monday night, right after the international break.
The Armenian international had made a £26m summer switch from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United, though has not really been able to impress so far.
The former BVB man had an impressive last season in the Bundesliga after scoring 11 goals and dishing out 15 assists in 31 appearances in the German league. Mkhitaryan hasn’t had quite the start he wanted for his new club after coming on as a second-half substitute in his first three league games and only featured for 59 minutes in those.
Even in the games that followed and when he started, things did not work out too well and hopefully he can make an impact on the team soon.
