Veteran batter Wriddhiman Saha was one of the best players in the IPL 2022 season. That does not, however, ensure him a place in the national team. According to him, he will not be considered for a berth in the India squad again.
Long before the IPL began, the 37-year-old player was already notified of this. The squad selectors have reportedly moved on from him. Furthermore, he was informed that he is no longer a part of their future endeavors.
Saha is certain he will never be called up to represent India again. Furthermore, there was only one chance for him to make a comeback, which did not go well. Unfortunately, his incredible run in the IPL 2022 did not earn him a recall.
Keeping things aside, Saha is looking for a new domestic cricket team to join. This comes after being harmed by a query posed by a Bengal Cricket Association official. His dedication to the squad was reportedly called into question.
Wriddhiman Saha Is Unsure if He Will Be Recalled to the Indian Team
Dinesh Karthik has recently been recalled to the Indian team. He had a fantastic IPL 2022 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The 37-year-old has wowed the masses with his recent development as a consistent finisher.
Karthik has been named for India’s T20I series against South Africa. Furthermore, he has maintained his good form following the end of the IPL. Overall, the seasoned batter’s recent results have been pretty positive.
It’s no surprise that Karthik has been recognized for his amazing results in the IPL. Other senior Indian cricketers, on the other hand, cannot make the same claim. The departure of Wriddhiman Saha from India’s Test squad, for instance, has been a widely debated issue.
He also had a good IPL performance this time around. In their triumphant season, he started the innings for the Gujarat Titans, who were making their debut.
Saha scored 317 runs in 11 IPL matches this season, including three half-centuries. However, it wasn’t enough to keep the veteran Indian wicketkeeper from being called up. When asked about his possibilities of making a comeback on the international stage, Saha sounded unsure.
“I don’t think I will be selected going further because already the coach and the chief selector had informed me. And if they had to pick me, after my IPL performance, I would have been included in the squad for England tour. So that decision has been made clear to me that right now, there aren’t too many options. But for me, I am focussed on playing cricket. As long as I love the sport, I will play,” Saha stated.
