Wriddhiman Saha Will Play for Tripura as Mentor-Cum-Captain

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has granted the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to Wriddhiman Saha. On Saturday, July 2, the seasoned player’s request was granted to him.

This was after some internal conflict between him and CAB. Moreover, the right-handed batter had earlier requested a NOC from the organization. Next season, he will represent Tripura as in a very distinct role. As per reports, he will feature for them as their skipper and a mentor as well.

Speaking of the rift between the two sides, it developed as a result of a pretty complex situation. It is to be noted that Saha’s loyalty to state cricket has previously been criticized by CAB joint secretary Debabrata Das.

Nevertheless, the senior batter did not take this well. He expressed his sorrow about the remarks in a statement. Moreover, after spending so many years playing for the state and giving his all, he feels overlooked. In all fairness, it is best for both parties to part ways out of mutual respect. Wriddhiman Saha will be buzzing to face and overcome the new challenge in front of him.

“Mr. Wriddhiman Saha came to CAB and in an application to President Avishek Dalmiya, sought the NOC from the association. CAB gave concurrence to Mr. Saha’s request and provided the NOC for him to play for another state. CAB also wished him the very best for his future endeavors,” CAB remarked in a recent statement.

Wriddhiman Saha was apparently in contact with various other cricket boards when the issue arose. Saha made touch with a few people, including the cricket associations of Gujarat and Baroda. However, both associations turned down the request. In the end, the Tripura Cricket Association was successful in hiring him.

Players falling out with their own team is never a good sight. The 37-year-old will nevertheless be eager to seize a fresh chance. He will definitely be intent on silencing his critics for good.
