Xavi Names The One Premier League Player ‘Good Enough’ To Play For Barcelona!

Barcelona icon, Xavi Hernandez says he would pick Leicester City star, Riyad Mahrez if he could sign any player from the Premier League for the Catalan team.

Barcelona

The PFA Player of the Year had a fantastic Premier League last season helping his team, Leicester City to a surprise Premier League title. The Algerian national scored 17 goals and gave 10 assists in the Foxes’ successful campaign in the Premier League. The 25-year-old grabbed interest from many big European clubs after a brilliant season including Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea etc but remained loyal to Leicester and signed a new 4-year-deal.

Regardless of wanting to see the Algerian at the Blaugrana team, the World Cup winner, Xavi is excited to see how the Foxes defend their title after a dream season in which they won their first ever Premier League title.

“[Riyad] Mahrez is good enough to play for Barcelona, but I am pleased he decided to stay with Leicester,’ the 2-time Euro winner spoke to ShortList.

“He clearly must have had options, but if Leicester had lost their best player after such a big achievement it would have been a shame.

“It will be interesting to see how him and Leicester perform in Europe this season.”

The Leicester winger has begun the new season on a high scoring from the spot on the opening match day against Hull City.

What will be more interesting to see is if the Algerian and Leicester could continue their outstanding performances last season now that their engine, Kante left for Chelsea.

The PFA Player of the Year was a pivotal part of the Premier League winning team last season along with Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante and helped the Foxes finish first, shocking the whole world in the process.
