Real Madrid have earmarked this Premier League Frenchman as their transfer target but have been adviced not to sign him by one football expert.
Zinedine Zidane should ignore the urge to sign Paul Pogba and invest in other areas according to football expert, Graham Hunter. Hunter suggests that the Pogba signing is one of Florentino Perez’s ideas and merely a marketing stunt by the Real Madrid President.
“Ignore Florentino Perez”
“It’s absolutely imperative that in your rebuilding of Los Blancos, you don’t sign Paul Pogba,” Hunter told Bet365. “The president wants him, it’s good for marketing, but he’s not the right man. You [Zidane] have stated that the absolute priority in 19/20 is to win the title, not the Champions League.”
“Do you need a world-class centre-half? Yes, you know you do. And I know you want to promote your own son Luca and kick out one of the top two goalkeepers. I would say keep [Thibaut] Courtois, move Keylor [Navas] on. Age demands. If you’re going to get it right, use your eyes, listen to your heart, don’t listen to your president.”
Zidane on Paul Pogba
Zinedine Zidane, meanwhile, has dropped some interesting words in amongst the journalists. The Frenchman has not shied away from talking about Paul Pogba, fuelling further speculation. Apparently, the Manchester United man has been told by Zidane that it is now or never to move to Real Madrid.
“Pogba is a good player, a player I know, but that’s it,” Zidane told a news conference. “I’m not going to get into these things, this nonsense. If you ask me about Pogba, I’ll tell you he’s a Manchester United player. He’s very good but he’s a Manchester United player. When the season is over, we’ll see what transfers there will be.”
Paul Pogba might well be on his way to Madrid this summer. All the public flirtations by Zidane is a good indicator of Real’s interest in the player. Would he be a good fit? Definitely. If Pogba can put the impressive numbers in a mediocre Manchester United midfield, imagine the impact alongside Casemiro and Kroos.
