Rumors about a Real Madrid star about to be axed has been floating around, but manager Zinedine Zidane has revealed everything.
The 25-year-old was in great form last season and easily among the top five Real Madrid players in Zidane’s squad. The Spaniard continued to show exactly why Real Madrid brought him in from Malaga but things soon changed this season. While he did start this season well, both form and injuries have since affected Isco and now rumors have it that Real Madrid want to cut their losses and sell him.
According to reports from AS, the 2012 Golden Boy winner has been deemed surplus to requirements especially after his performances of late. The report further adds that if Zinedine Zidane is still the Real Madrid boss come to the end of the current season, his first act will be selling the 25-year-old.
However, now it looks like manager Zinedine Zidane has come out and publicly said that the reports and the news story are all fake. In a press conference, the 1998 World Cup winner went on to say, “I have full faith in my team. I am one of those people who, when I start something, I go with it to the death. I believe in what I do, and I want Isco to stay here his whole life.
Isco is a very good player. So El Chiringuito’s report is a lie, and I am answering in order to put an end to this. We have 25 players and everyone is important. Perhaps Isco won’t play every game but I am counting on him.”
The Los Blancos currently sit fourth in the La Liga and are 19 points behind leaders Barcelona, but also have PSG coming up next in the first leg of the Champions League last 16. Zidane’s men have struggled and lost simple games, but more than that they don’t look like the same team that went on to win a double last season.
That’s exactly why both Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez want to rebuild the team next season, and let the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and maybe even Cristiano Ronaldo move on for the next set of Galacticos. He further added “Consistency has been our problem this season, but over the course of a season bad things can happen. We don’t know how the season will finish but we still believe we can do very good things.”
Real Madrid needs to get their house in order if they even want to have a chance at finishing in the top four. Let alone that, the Los Blancos cannot let a player like Isco go, especially when they want to rebuild their team, as the 25-year-old is the perfect player to re-build around, especially given his skill and talent on the ball.
